Trish,
Duke is doing great. He is house broken, kennels on command, and will sit by voice, whistle, or hand signal. He is retrieving bumpers to hand and will sit with them as well. He got his first exposure to freshly killed chuckars over the weekend and loved it. I threw the 1st one where he could see it on the ground and he retrieved it to hand. After that I threw it into grass tall enough that he would have to use his nose if he stopped short and he did very well with these as well. He marks very well and is very persistent in searching for the bird. He was short on some of his marks but that is to be expected. His line was perfect every time and he retrieved to hand every time. I couldn't be more satisfied with him at this point. I too am a Richard Wolters fan (Water Dog) and will continue to fast track his training. Duke will be hunting wild birds before the season is over. He will most likely make the trip to South Dakota in November with me although he might not hunt. I will not let a rooster spur him this early. I tournament hunt my dogs in the NBDCA/Tournament Hunter LLC. My Trieven bitch Guinevere almost won the National Tournament in March and she and her son JJ, as well as my Irish bitch Liza Jane are qualified for the upcoming Nationals. Duke will compete in the puppy division starting in January. Thank you all for all that you do and the great, professional operation that you run and for Duke, who appears to be on his way to marking as well as his namesake, the Little Duke of Fargo, who was one of the great marking dogs of all time. I have and will continue to recommend Silver-Brook to others who seek excellent dogs. Thanks again! I have attached a couple of pictures of Duke with his first birds.

Hi Trish,

Thought you might enjoy seeing a picture of Lucy at almost 6 months old. Leo and I think she looks a lot like her mama, Tana. She is full of energy and very smart, too. She outwits our other Lab (Mookie, a 3 year old male) all the time. My vet accused me of being sexist when I said that I thought Lucy is smarter than Mookie! We recently moved to a house with a big yard so they are both really enjoying the opportunity to run. There's a pond nearby so we're hoping to get some swimming in soon too. I see you have another litter coming from Tana and Rebel; I'm sure they will be great! Take care,

Lucy

Hi Trish,
I wanted to let you know just how well Nilla is doing (officially: "Silverbrook's Nilla Wafer").  She is the perfect puppy!! We've been very busy socializing her since we got her.  We take her everywhere and she meets everybody; she always steals the show.  She's met hundreds of people and has played with hundreds of dogs; always with the sweetest temperament (although she is quite the alpha female :-)). Her training is going wonderfully, as well.  We started clicker training when she was 9 weeks old- she took to it right away and is doing things that I never thought a 5 month old would be doing.   Both Vicki and I are absolutely in love with her and almost every day is planned around what fun, cool thing we can do with Nilla.

I'm also very glad that we got to meet and get to know Sally and Jack. It's pretty cute when Nilla cuddles up to you like Sally, or tries to test you like Jack.  She's very smart, affectionate, play driven, but easy to settle down (easy for a puppy anyway).  We plan to train her to be a therapy pet in the future.  We feel that with your help we got the most perfect Labrador Retriever in the world.  Of course, when she's grown up a bit she's going to need a brother, and we will come straight to Silverbrook.  I've attached some pictures we took of her a couple of weeks ago.   Thanks again, Trish.

Best regards,
Scott Gearhart

Just thought I'd send you some pictures of Katie. She's growing very fast! She was just 8 lbs when we picked her up at 7 weeks. Now she's 31 lbs at just 16 weeks! She's quite literally taken over the house! (Even though she won't ever be on the bed!!) She already waits by the door for the boys to come home from school. She was very easy to potty train. After only 4 weeks, she was having very few accidents. At this point, she hasn't had one in about 2 weeks! She's been a great addition to our family. Thanks again for all of your work. Hope to train with you soon.
